Online radio show interviews Alan Shaw, CEO of FileWorks
INCLINE VILLAGE, Nevada —
"If you pick just one bit of advice about security to give to people who are doing business through the Web, what would that be?" This was just one of the questions posed to Alan Shaw, CEO of FileWorks, by Andrea Cannavina, host of LegalTypist Radio, in an Internet radio interview that aired today.
The 25-minute interview focused on online document storage and covered such topics as:
- how to use FileWorks Online instead of keeping data on insecure laptops
- a typical setup of FileWorks Online
- scanning documents
- indexing documents versus optical character reading (OCR)
- business tools in FileWorks Online
- backing-up files and disaster recovery
- Shaw's top security tip
Comparing security to an onion, Cannavina said, "it always has to have layers. And, it really has to start with common sense." Later adding, "If it gets breached, you're going to start crying."
Both agreed that FileWorks Online is much safer than storing files on a laptop. "It's important for people to consider...mobility, accessiblity and security," said Cannavina. "Your particular system allows people to attain all of those things."
